February 2025 Chamber Membership Meeting & Luncheon!

Featured Guest Speakers: Nancy Stephens, District 3 County Commissioner ; Eddie Flores, District 4 County Commissioner; and Tomas Shelley, District 5 Commissioner
We will also have Chris Ponce, Chairman of the County Commission and Eloy Medina, District 2 Commissioner as our additional speakers.
Please join us in welcoming our newly elected Grant County Commissioners. They will each be discussing information about who they are, their backgrounds, the districts they serve, etc. You will also have an opportunity to hear from the Chairman of the County Commission, Chris Ponce and District 2 Commissioner, Eloy Medina.
Nancy Stephens is a schools social worker at Aldo Leopold Charter School and the Executive Director for the Imagination Library of Grant County (ILGC), an affiliate of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. Nancy has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Indiana University and a Master's degree in Social Work from New Mexico State University. Nancy appreciates that childhood literacy and social work both place value on learning, social justice, and well-being, and both can facilitate positive change. Ms. Stephens has served on several nonprofit boards and volunteers at the detention center with Literacy Links Leamos.
Eddie Flores was born and raised in Silver City, New Mexico. After graduating from Silver High School, he attended the Western New Mexico University (WNMU) Police Academy and started his law enforcement career in 1985 with the Silver City Police Department. Eddie later earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from WNMU and soon completed his Master's degree in Business Administration from WNMU. Eddie retired from the New Mexico State Police in 2008 and took over as the Chief of Police at WNMU where he presently serves.
Thomas Shelley was born and raised in Grant County and graduated from Silver High School. Thomas is a US Army Veteran and earned a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (University of Texas at Austin) and is a New Mexico Professional Engineer. Thomas retired from Freeport-McMoRan after 31 years and owns and operates cattle ranch in Grant County. He currently serves on the Board of the Grant County Soil and Water Conservation District and the Grant County Cattle Growers.
Chris Ponce was born and raised in Silver City, New Mexico and retired from the Silver City Police Department as the Deputy Chief of Police after 20 years of service. Chris also worked for the Grant County Sheriff's Office for close to 4 years. He attended Western New Mexico University and is married to Julie Reese Ponce and have a son and daughter, Christopher and Erika Ponce. Chris currently serves as the Chairman of the County Commission and serves District 1 in Grant County.
Eloy H. Medina was born and raised in Bayard, New Mexico. He began his career in the Gila Regional Medical EMS in 1990. He then transitioned to the Silver City Fire Department in 1993. After retiring from fire as a Captain, he continued his career in EMS at Gila Regional as a paramedic and is currently serving as the EMS Director. Eloy has a Bachelor's degree from Eastern New Mexico University. He has always been devoted to Public Safety, Education, and the want to create a better community for the citizens of Grant County.
Lunch will be catered by YG Events.
