25th Annual Gem and Mineral Show
Labor Day Weekend, 2008

Located in the Recreation Center on Gold Street in Silver City, the annual Gem and Mineral show is filled to overflowing with mineral specimens from New Mexico and elsewhere. Hours Saturday and Sunday are 10 am to 5 pm, Monday 10 am to 4 pm. There is no charge for admission to the show.

The Rolling Stones Gem and Mineral Show, a Labor Day Weekend tradition in Grant County, is celebrating twenty five years of showing high quality gems, minerals and jewelry. Thousands of visitors who leave their hot humid lowlands to travel to our cool clean mountain environment this year will enjoy the great diversity of material presented by our vendors.

More than 50 vendors from all around the Southwestern United States, Mexico and more remote areas bring their museum quality mineral specimens, jewelry, and arts crafted from rock and gems. Quantities of "rough" stones are available for cutting and polishing work. Equipment and supplies for these endeavors are available. The Rolling Stones conduct a silent auction ending every 30 minutes throughout the show, with many fine mineral specimens, fossils, petrified wood, and cut slabs in each round of the auction.

Children of all ages are thrilled by the "chance" to win a beautiful polished stone at the Wheel of Fortune which guarantees a winner for each spin of the wheel.

Many local vendors offer Grant County's justly renowned minerals and stones and items of jewelry they have fashioned from them. Located in the Recreation Center on Gold Street in Silver City the Gem and Mineral show is filled to overflowing and vendors occupy spaces outside also. Here can be found large quantities of mineral specimens from Mexico and elsewhere.

The Recreation center may be reached from New Mexico Highway 90 and US Highway 180. As you come into town watch for the signs directing you to the Recreation Center. There is plenty of free parking. Admission to the show if free. Food service, provided by the Silver City Lions Club is available so you can take a break and have lunch without leaving the show.

Prospective vendors should contact Show Chairman Judy Allen at show08@stockmanfamily.net or write to the Rolling Stones Gem and Mineral Society at 16 McKinley Street, Silver City, NM 88061.
